Check n Raise Poker is a relative newcomer to the field, having just launched on November 27, 2004. The site is a compendium of useful poker information, advice, and player resources, such as: Beginner's Guide to Online Poker, Robert's Rules of Poker, blogs, blogs, blogs, beautiful hand rankings and hand probabilities reference pages, a poker glossary, a detailed history of poker, Hand of the Week & Story for Glory features (player essays), video interviews with poker star Bob Ciaffone, rules, rules, rules (including rules of games not offered on their site, such as home games, the WSOP, and Tournament Director's Association rules)…You get the idea.
Check n Raise Poker boasts that it was designed "by poker players for poker players". Unfortunately, the game play doesn't live up to the packaging. For one, there is hardly any action at the scant tables. But Check n Raise Poker is still young, and they promise some great things ahead (Mac compatibility, seat change option, multi-table view, hand history with graphic replay, time bank in tournaments, make-a-deal feature in tournaments, and a downloadable version).
If this all comes through, Check n Raise Poker could eventually wind up giving the "big boys" of poker sites (ie. Party Poker, Paradise Poker, Empire Poker) a run for their money.
