Hey look! Another Prima Poker Network "skin". Just what we needed - not! OK, so Captain Cooks Poker comes from a popular, classy, and reputable gaming company, namely Captain Cooks Online Gaming. Their online casino has been so successful that it was inevitable they'd produce a sister site for us poker lovers. I just wonder what took them so long.
So, how does Captain Cooks Poker compete after coming into the game so late? Mostly with a lot of guaranteed prize pool tournaments - at last count 3 weekly ones and 14 daily ones. And they do have a nice game of 5-Card Stud going (not typically offered at most online poker rooms), if that's your thing.
Lastly, Captain Cooks Poker's list of approved deposit/cashout methods is one of the longest I've seen. But really, all that aside, Captain Cooks Poker is just one more in a long line of Prima "skins" using Microgaming software. That's not a bad thing, per se. It's just what it is. You know, they offer a no-download Flash version of their casino software, which is vital for players who can't meet the system requirements (can you say "Mac"?) Why not offer a Flash version of their poker room too? That'll give the competition a run for their money, more I think than any game of 5-Card Stud.

Microgaming -tried and true, tested and approved, bland and buggy
This software is one of the oldest and most frequently upgraded, so why is it still not up to snuff?
On the positive side, the complete overview of the betting sequence throughout the game is a useful feature

Competition
Lots of casino gamers means lots of loose, wild action
Loose and aggressive play makes for meaty pots that are totally up for grabs, though not for the faint of heart
It also means to be shark strict shark alert (unless of course you ARE the shark)

If it weren't so buggy it'd be a lot easier
